Here are the last images of an exciting week of tennis at the Connecticut Open at Yale University. Petra Kvitova continued her domination in New Haven, winning her second title in three finals appearances here.
It’s always interesting to think about these tournaments after they’re complete. Each one has it’s own personality, quirks, and characters, and they’re all so different from each other. This one has a small tournament feel but with the star power and excitement of a bigger tournament, which I think is quite a nice balance.
From a photo standpoint, it was essentially nonstop shooting for me over the last nine days. By now, I’ve learned that as the official tournament photographer, success is just as much about time management and good planning each day as it is about taking good pictures. It’s a responsibility that can be hectic at times, but one that I enjoy immensely.
As usual, the experience is only as good as the people you work with, and I’m grateful to have such great people to partner with. Our web and digital team of Matt Van Tuinen, Stephen Villatoro, Nick McCarvel, Lauren Foley, and Craig Gabriel is among the best in the business. I’m also thankful to tournament director Anne Worcester and the rest of the tournament staff for their efforts and for giving me the opportunity to shoot.
Now I’m back in Boston to finish out the 2014 Red Sox season. It goes on!
