I have been lucky to follow former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz through his journey toward the election into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Above is a selection of imagery shot and produced for the Boston Red Sox in preparation for his induction weekend in Cooperstown at the end of July.
I’m proud to share the above video spot, which I produced and storyboarded and brought to life with an incredible collaborative effort among our productions and creative services teams. With the help of the Hall of Fame, we shut down the plaque gallery to photograph David in the empty hall, providing the visual of David reflecting upon his upcoming election. We kept this in the can for months until induction weekend, at which point it served as a great campaign to tee of the event.
It was fun to travel back to Cooperstown to cover my second Hall of Fame induction (Pedro Martinez in 2015 was the first), and all the fanfare that goes along with it. Several days later, Ortiz traveled to Boston for a special recognition pre-game ceremony, and took a ride in the team’s Home Run Cart.
Here is a recap from this year’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. I was lucky to be able to travel with the three Red Sox representatives – Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, and J.D. Martinez – to document their experience over All-Star week. Before the game, I shot some portraits with J.D. in an old theatre to represent the Hollywood theme of the week.
It was fun to shoot those on film for a change, which sparked a desire to start working with film more again!
Here’s a series of images from a big series with big crowds against the New York Yankees recently at Fenway. fun stuff when the place is high energy like this!
Our content team traveled to Chicago over July 4th weekend to document the Boston Red Sox-Chicago Cubs series at Wrigley Field. I’ve been to Wrigley as a fan previously, but this was the first time shooting with the team. It’s an iconic ballpark and makes for great stuff all around. Enjoyed the weekend!
Above is a selection of imagery captured for tournament sponsorship to document the partner and fan experience on course at the US Open Championship at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. I was there for one day of the tournament with the team at Bolt Creative Group and working with great partners and clients.
Sharing new higher education portrait work with students and faculty shot for various schools at Northeastern University in Boston. This set was meant to display a clean, classic look with colorful background palettes and room in composition for copy to be added later.
Sharing some recent portrait work with four-time Olympian, 1998 hockey gold medalist, and Sports Innovation Lab co-founder, Angela Ruggiero. These were shot for Sports Illustrated for a cover story exploring the battlegrounds and issues that will define the future of the fight for equality in sports 50 years after the passing of the Title IX law.
A big thanks to the editorial team at SI for considering me for this assignment, and to Angela for being a fantastic subject.
Here are a few ballpark and fan features in the nice summer light at Fenway.
An action packed day at Fenway, as former sluggers Manny Ramirez and David ortiz returned for pre-game festivities. The team also reintroduced the Nike City Connect jerseys to the field.
Not much to show from this game aside from these few frames.
