The Boston College Eagles opened up their 2020 season at home tonight with a game played in an empty Alumni Stadium against Texas State. Given mass gatherings are still shut down here in Massachusetts, there were no fans in the stadium, and as a result, no field access for photographers. Now I know how all the other photographers felt at Fenway all season!
Still, it was a fun challenge to think differently about how to cover it. Here is my take of the Eagles win on a late field goal, shot for Getty Images.
Here is my set of images from Boston College vs. Louisville yesterday at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. I covered the game for Getty Images.
This was a tough one for BC, who lost 52-7 to Louisville. It was the Lamar Jackson show. The Louisville quarterback threw four touchdown passes and ran for three, putting up 416 total yards. From a photo standpoint, he was the subject of nearly all of them.
It took me a bit to get my football timing back. I was a bit frustrated at first, and maybe a little tired from a red eye flight the night before, but settled in and did alright the rest of the way.
I spent my Saturday this weekend out in Chestnut Hill at Boston College to shoot a game between the Eagles and the Florida State Seminoles.
I was able to finish the corporate/sponsorship signage work that I was hired to shoot by the end of the first half, so I stuck around to shoot game action for myself during the second half. I haven’t shot a football game in awhile, so it was a nice change of pace during a break from baseball.
These are a few that I liked. Looking through these images again, I’m realizing I shot mostly FSU action. That’s just how the game was going by the time I started shooting in the second half. Enjoy!
