Sharing a few images from a recent game between the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros at Fenway Park.
The Boston Red Sox recently honored late former second baseman turned broadcaster, Jerry Remy, during a pre-game ceremony at Fenway Park.
This year marked the return of the Nike City Connect yellow jerseys to the Red Sox at the beginning of the season. To continue off of last year’s work, we featured more creative catalysts in the city of Boston to feature on our channels. I put together these photo and video vignettes of each catalysts, as well as some new portrait and motion work of our athletes displaying the yellow.
Here’s a sampling of the updated campaign work from this year.
I couldn’t be more excited to share this recent Opening Day spot I produced alongside an incredibly talented team for the Boston Red Sox home opener. This year, we called on the help of Boston-based aerial production team, Above Summit, to create and FPV style drone video taking viewers on a journey through Fenway Park as it was prepared for the opening weekend.
These videos have become very popular as of late, so to take the production value a step further, we scripted out various scenes, easter eggs, and vignettes to weave together a storyline that hit on the key thematic points that will be present on opening weekend and throughout the 2022 season. The video features references to Opening Day, the Nike City Connect campaign and the running of the Boston Marathon, David Ortiz 2022 induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, a memorial to Jerry Remy, and other relevant storytelling moments.
Together with Tim Heintzelman and Kellan Reck of Boston Red Sox Creative Services and Productions, we produced all logistics, storyboarding, and scripting for this complex beast of a video. We filmed over four days of production on a tight deadline to get out and onto our channels by Opening Day. A huge thanks to the team at Above Summit and to FPV pilot Jacob Ballin for this incredible footage and expertise.
Another Opening Day in the books! My 11th in Boston with the Red Sox. It’s always a crazy one, but yesterday was a good one. Despite a loss, a beautiful day and back to normal pre-covid operating conditions made it ideal for work!
Happy to be here for another year.
I traveled to New York last week to shoot game 1 of 162 this season, as the Red Sox opened up at Yankee Stadium against the New York Yankees. An extra inning walk-off win for New York, but was still great to get underway.
Alright, this is a fun one. Toward the tail end of Spring Training, Red Sox catcher Kevin Plawecki approached our team with a new video idea: a cheesy training montage to announce the return of the “home run cart” to the Red Sox dugout this season.
So we did just that, filming several scenes with Kevin getting back into shape with the cart. It was fun to shoot the video clips and produce this video. A big thanks to Josh Mitnick from Red Sox Productions for the great edit!
Rocky vibes. We have a fun team.
I recently spent a rare Spring Training off-day with Boston Red Sox big bat, J.D. Martinez, to shoot this lifestyle video piece. J.D. drove from Fort Myers to Clearwater to begin the customization process on his new boat with the crew at Costa Custom Boats. In the afternoon, we ventured to a tree farm, where J.D. selected a new banyan tree, which will ultimately be planted at his Florida residence.
It was fun to shoot video and show a bit of humanity to the man they call J.D.!
As we continue Spring Training, I’m wrapping some action and features from a few games together here on the blog. The season will be here shortly!
Sharing a sample of behind the scenes imagery from Boston Red Sox spring training camp, including an opportunity to ride along with outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. to a nearby game against the Minnesota Twins.
