Boston Red Sox Photos: Thursday, July 10, 2014 vs. Chicago White Sox.
It’s nice to be back at it at Fenway Park after a few weeks of shooting out of the country, and it was even nicer to be welcomed back with an exciting walk-off win to shoot. After giving up a two run lead in the ninth inning, the Sox bounced right back and got it done in the tenth, giving them their second straight walk-off, third this home stand, and eighth this season.
Let’s hope we can keep it going!
Photos: 2013 World Series – Game 5.
After a painful end to game three of the World Series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, the Red Sox responded in the best way possible, taking the next two games from the Cardinals. Last night’s game was tense, but it was a huge win, as the team now returns to Fenway Park just one win away from a World Series title.
These are the highlights from game five, which although a great game, wasn’t fantastic for pictures. We flew back to Boston right afterwards which made for a long night of travel, so I’m not going to post much more right now.
Tomorrow is a huge day, as the team has the chance to win a World Series at Fenway Park for the first time since 1918.

It was an absolutely crazy ending to a back and forth game three of the World Series out here in St. Louis. I don’t know what to make of how the game ended, and don’t have much time to post about it right now.
Here are the photos I shot from my elevated position along the first base line at Busch Stadium. We’ll see how it goes tonight. Hoping for a Red Sox win to even the series!
Boston Red Sox Photos: Wednesday, July 31, 2013 vs. Seattle Mariners.
Five Hours. Three Minutes. Fifteen Innings.
That’s what it took to finish last night’s game between the Boston Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners. I think this was, by time, the longest game I’ve ever shot, even though I covered an 18 inning game here last season.
The Sox have been clutch in the late-game situations this year, so knowing that we’ve had plenty of walk-off winning photos from down low, I decided to mix things up and go up high for a different vantage point. Early in the ninth inning, I went to the upper deck in left field, hoping for a walk-off win. Seven innings later, I got what I was hoping for.
Although this game went well past midnight, and I had to change my captions from July to August, it was worth the wait. The win looked really nice from my spot, and to me, there’s no better feeling than getting a good picture. Here are those photos, as well as a selection of others from throughout the night (in no particular order – I’m too sleepy still to think about it).
Boston Red Sox Photos: Monday, July 29, 2013 vs. Tampa Bay Rays.
It’s seems like the Tampa Bay Rays have replaced the Yankees as the Red Sox’ biggest rivals. Last night was a sure sign that things between the two teams atop the AL East are starting to heat up.
After an incredibly beautiful few innings of sunsets and cloud formations followed by a torrential downpour and subsequent rain delay, the Sox put a rally together to try and tie the game up at 2-2. It seems as though that would have happened in the eighth inning but for a self-admitted blown call by home plate umpire Jerry Meals on a play at the plate.
From my post at third base, it looked like Daniel Nava, who tried to score on a sacrifice fly, was safe. Who knows. Regardless, it was an eventful night for photos despite a low score.
Let’s hope the Sox stay competitive down the stretch. I’m looking forward to shooting this playoff race.
Boston Red Sox Photos: Sunday, June 9, 2013 vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
For me, Sunday was more about what happened before the game than the game itself, which I was okay with after shooting two really long games the day before.
The graduating class of Red Sox Scholars were on hand to be recognized during a ceremony before the game, which proves to be a busy day for everyone involved every year. Our photo crew was in early in the morning to shoot head shots of all the graduates and inductees across the street at Fenway High School. After shooting those, we broke down our lights and were quickly back over to the stadium to shoot group photos in front of the scoreboard followed by the pre-game ceremony itself.
A busy end to a long weekend. Here are the highlights from the day.
Boston Red Sox Photos: Sunday, May 26, 2013 vs. Cleveland Indians.
Wow, what a game. What began as a really slow, dull game quickly turned into an unpredictable, crazy, dramatic ending, as the Red Sox rallied from a 5-1 deficit in the eighth inning to pull out a 6-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians. That’s what baseball is all about right there.
I shot all nine innings from the third base photo pit yesterday. Often, the best pictures are made when, by chance, you just happen to be in the right place at the right time. This was one of those times, as the Jacoby Ellsbury celebration photos looked fantastic from the third base angle. I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating because it’s important to remember. It’s days like these that remind you why this line of work is so special.
To me, there’s nothing sweeter than knowing you took a good picture. Nothing sweeter!
Photos: Red Sox Baseball Resumes After Marathon Attacks.
Sports have a way of bringing people together. In the wake of the tragedies of the Boston Marathon, I think the city has been itching to get back to normalcy.
What better way to do that than with a Red Sox game at Fenway Park? After a city-wide lockdown during the tail end of an intense manhunt extended into Friday evening, Friday’s originally scheduled game was postponed. Today, we’ve got a double-header to make up for that game, but yesterday’s game, the first home game since the attacks, was one to remember.
The pre-game ceremony was both solemn and comforting, and the game finished with a storybook ending – a late inning come from behind win off of Daniel Nava’s three run home run.

Friday made for a busy but thoroughly enjoyable day traveling around Boston with Boston Red Sox pitcher Andrew Miller and outfielder Daniel Nava.
The first four of these photos are from our visit to the Mather School in Dorchester, where Miller and Nava met with several third grade classes. The final one is from the Vine Street Community Center in Roxbury, where the two players put on a pitching and hitting clinic for the kids there.

It’s hard to believe, but last night was the last home game for the Boston Red Sox this year, bringing an end to the commemorative 100th anniversary season of Fenway Park.
It hasn’t quite sunk in for me yet that the season is over. You get in such a routine with this job, and spend so much time at the stadium, that it takes a few days off to realize that it’s actually over.
The game was lackluster, and ended in a Red Sox loss. So, here is an assortment of images from the last game.
I’m not going to share all my thoughts about my work this season here just yet. I’ll save that for later. I’m hOOOOOOping that there’s more baseball still to come…
