That’s a sweep for the Red Sox to start the second half of the season! Here are a few images from the third game of the series.

I got to follow Boston Red Sox catcher David Ross as he visited young patients at the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston yesterday.
David was absolutely great with the kids, and it’s always refreshing to see these types of interactions. The team isn’t playing well right now, but seeing some of the real problems some of these young people are dealing with puts things into perspective.
These were a few moments I liked.

We had a good game yesterday at Fenway Park, as Jon Lester struck out fifteen batters and Jonny Gomes hit a grand slam to lead the Red Sox to a win over the Oakland Athletics.
A nice day for pictures – good light and good action!
Boston Red Sox Photos: Wednesday, April 9, 2014 vs. Texas Rangers.

Yesterday was a great end to the first homestand of the Boston Red Sox season. A 4:00 PM start time against the Texas Rangers had me excited to hunt for golden light and deep shadows, and that’s what I found.
Beautiful light combined with vintage late inning dramatics from David Ortiz made for a good day of shooting all around.

After a painful end to game three of the World Series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, the Red Sox responded in the best way possible, taking the next two games from the Cardinals. Last night’s game was tense, but it was a huge win, as the team now returns to Fenway Park just one win away from a World Series title.
These are the highlights from game five, which although a great game, wasn’t fantastic for pictures. We flew back to Boston right afterwards which made for a long night of travel, so I’m not going to post much more right now.
Tomorrow is a huge day, as the team has the chance to win a World Series at Fenway Park for the first time since 1918.
Here’s hoping!

Happy 2013 World Series!
Things are buzzing at Fenway Park in anticipation of game one tonight between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. Yesterday, we were busy shooting team media day and press conferences, as well as the team workout.
After a brief patch of rain, the skies did all sorts of crazy things, and we were treated to one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen and a rainbow over the park to boot. Let’s hope that’s a good luck omen for the Sox!

We can’t seem to fully turn the corner into the Summer weather up here in Boston. Nearly the entire week has been cold, wet, and rainy, and yesterday was more of the same. We’re all glad that we escaped a possible double header today and got the game in with no delays – props to the Fenway Park grounds crew, who worked really hard to make sure the game finished on time – but it was still less than ideal conditions to work in.
You have to work with what you have, though, so on days like yesterday, I’m always on the hunt for rain features. That’s mostly what I shot and what I’ve posted here.
Yesterday was also particularly special in that hundreds of residents of Newtown, Connecticut and members of Sandy Hook Elementary School were in attendance at the game in recognition of Connecticut Day at Fenway Park. After the game, they were invited down to the field to take photos and interact with players and coaches from both the Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians. I’ve included three photos from the event above as well.
I’m at the park now for another game today!
