Stills: Dustin Pedroia Retirement.

This Boston Red Sox honored former second baseman Dustin Pedroia during pregame ceremonies at Fenway Park before a game against the New York Yankees. Pedroia, who played in 1,512 games with the club from 2006–19, announced his retirement from the Red Sox and the game of baseball on February 1, 2021.

During the ceremony, Pedroia was met by former teammates Tim Wakefield, Mike Lowell, and Jacoby Ellsbury, as well as Pedro Martinez, Luis Tiant, and various community partners. At the ceremony’s conclusion, retired professional wrestler Ric Flair surprised Pedroia and announced “Play Ball” alongside him and his sons Dylan, Brooks and Cole.

The Sox beat the Yankees 5–3, and once the field cleared and the Fenway lights dimmed, Pedroia took the field for one last portrait at second base.

Here is my set of images from the day.

Boston Red Sox Photos: Red Sox Receive World Series Rings On 2019 Opening Day.

The Boston Red Sox returned to Fenway Park yesterday for their 2019 home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. Before the game, players, coaches, and team staff received their 2018 World Series championship rings. Members of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots were also in attendance for the ceremony.

It was an awesome day to be a part of despite not ideal weather conditions and an ugly game. We’re lucky to be able to do what we do and call it work.

More ring fun today.

With all nine batters in the line up producing at least one hit and Rick Porcello turning in another strong performance on the mound, the Red Sox cruised to an 8–3 victory over the Blue Jays. Sandy Leon hit a double and a two-run home run, contributing to the Red Sox 13 total hits.

Boston Red Sox Photos: Opening Day Workouts.

The Red Sox have arrived in St. Petersburg, where they took batting practice and infield drills ahead of tomorrow’s Opening Day game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

I’m back down in Florida to cover the game, so shot some frames at the Trop today.

As the team heads to Sarasota for a game, Red Sox workouts for those not traveling continued today at jetBlue Park. Here are some images from the workouts, which included a simulated game pitched by Chris Sale.

Boston Red Sox Photos: 2018 Photo Day.

Early this morning, the full Boston Red Sox roster of players and coaches posed for portraits during photo day, the annual event that allows photographers to gather content for use throughout the 2018 season.

For us in the Red Sox marketing department, photo day is always a tough but stimulating challenge. How do you create a portrait look and feel that is stylized and creative, yet also simple enough to function in an assembly line style shoot of over 60 subjects in a short time period? This year’s result was a five light high-key set up on white seamless. A bit of rim light on each player gave the portraits the finishing touch they needed to separate the subject from the background.

Above is a gallery of some favorites! A big thanks to everyone in the Red Sox Creative Services and Media Relations teams for making it happen. This day is a true team effort!
