Boston Red Sox Photos: American Flag Dropped Over Green Monster For Memorial Day.

The Red Sox today paid tribute to those who lost their lives in combat by dropping the American flag over the Green Monster wall in Left Field. The flag drop was punctuated by a bugle performance of Taps by Medford, MA, native Robert Bean, a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps and National Guard.

It was neat to be inside the empty ballpark for this beautiful little event. I utilized remote cameras to get multiple angles of the drop since I could only be in one spot. Glad they all worked out and go the shots I needed!

Boston Red Sox Photos: Saturday, July 23, 2016 vs. Minnesota Twins.

This was a tough one yesterday for the Red Sox. After building up a big lead early, the Twins bats came alive, and the visiting team ended up walking away with a win. 

There was still plenty of action, though, and some crazy wind and stormy skies made for a nice moody atmosphere early on.

A day of torrential downpour made for a relatively subdued Marathon Monday compared to year’s past. The rain was so bad, in fact, that this game between the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles was called officially after 7 innings.

I decided to head out this morning and shoot some photos as members of the Boston Red Sox front office helped roll up the American flag at Fenway Park in preparation for a 9/11 memorial flag drop before tonight’s game.

This is a follow up to the Flag Roll video I made in the wake of the attacks on the Boston Marathon earlier this year, in which I spoke with some first responders who were out at the scene on Marathon Monday. You can watch that video by clicking here. 

I’ve covered this process twice now, and both times have been enjoyable to shoot. It’s really a nice coming together of people, and it’s a story that looks good both in video and photos. 

The Sox are back in town today to begin their quest to clinch a playoff spot. First up is a three game series against the Yankees. I’m excited to shoot meaningful September baseball. The Sox’ magic number stands at 8!

A return to normalcy after a crazy game on Sunday. Here are a few Memorial Day features from Fenway Park.

What a crazy several days here in Boston. It seems like every five minutes some other piece of news is breaking. It’s difficult to make any sense of all that’s going on, and being so close to everything that’s happening is a bit surreal. 
We’re all okay up here! Again, we’re touched by all the messages of support from friends and family. It’s these types of situations that bring out the best in people. 
I heard that the Boston Red Sox were gathering volunteers yesterday to prepare the giant American Flag to be dropped over the Green Monster during the pre-game ceremony at the team’s first game back in Boston since the attacks. Whether that happens today as originally planned or gets postponed is still unclear. Regardless, I wanted to shoot this flag rolling as a precursor to the game, which, given all that the city has been through, is poised to be quite a scene.  On hand for the rolling were several first responders to the bomb scenes on Marathon Monday, which you’ll see in the video.
As someone who is a part of the Boston media, I’ve found it a bit overwhelming to try and decide how to cover this massive story. I realized with this video piece, though, that baseball is what I know best and where my access is, and Red Sox related are the stories are the ones I can cover and cover well. 
So, this is an angle that’s positive and uplifting. In my opinion, that’s something we all need right now.
