Boston Red Sox Photos: Monday, July 4, 2016 vs. Texas Rangers.

There’s nothing that screams “summer” better than baseball on the Fourth of July. Especially winning Red Sox baseball at Fenway Park. Here is a set of photographs from some patriotic festivities at the Park during a game against the Texas Rangers.

We’re back at it at Fenway Park! Last night marked the first game of an upcoming 10 game home stand here in Boston. Despite a close loss in a pitcher’s duel to the Baltimore Orioles, there was still much buzz at the Park. It was Jason Varitek bobble head night, and the Captain himself was in attendance during the game. It was also David Ortiz’ 1000th game played in his career at Fenway Park.
In honor of Flag Day, the American flag was dropped over the Green Monster. Additionally, in recognition of the recent shootings in Orlando, the Red Sox honored the victims with a moment of silence, and donated proceeds of the daily 50-50 raffle to the Florida Disaster Fund.
Here are some scenes from a beautiful night at Fenway Park.

As is tradition in Boston every year on Patriot’s Day, the Red Sox hosted an 11:05 AM game at Fenway Park against the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday. The early start time – the only morning game in Major League Baseball – coincides with the Boston Marathon. Runners pass just a few blocks away from Park as they approach the end of their 26.2 mile journey. Although the Red Sox weren’t able to pull out a victory over Toronto, the mood was festive and cheerful inside Fenway. Before the game, Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman and actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who is playing Bauman in the upcoming movie, ‘Stronger,’ threw out a ceremonial first pitch together.
It’s hard not to think about where we all were three years ago on this day, in the immediate aftermath of the bombing. Living through that week was surreal for everyone involved. I found myself thinking about it a lot yesterday.

A day of torrential downpour made for a relatively subdued Marathon Monday compared to year’s past. The rain was so bad, in fact, that this game between the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles was called officially after 7 innings.
Not a huge day for photos, but here are a few selects.
Photos and Video: Boston Marathon Weekend at Fenway Park.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since the bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. There were lots of things happening at the park in what was overall quite a festive weekend.
It’s amazing to see what a difference just one year can make in people’s lives. Here are my photos and videos from all the highlights this weekend.
Photos: Scenes From Frozen Fenway 2014.
It’s been a busy, cold, but exciting week shooting hockey at Fenway Park during Frozen Fenway 2014. We’ve had lots of games to cover, which has given us the opportunity to get a good variety of images.
Over the course of the week, I’ve tried to find lots of different looks, not just on game action, but also on those quieter moments before and after the game. I think it’s important to remember that as huge as some of them are, these are just college kids. The chance to play the game they love outdoors in Fenway Park is something very special, and I tried to convey that emotion when possible. During the game, I kept mobile, shooting some periods from down low, some from behind the glass, and some from up high.
I mentioned in my last post that hockey isn’t something I grew up around, but after these several weeks I feel very comfortable shooting the sport. This was a good introduction, and I hope I can have the opportunity to do more with it in the future.
It was also neat to shoot a skate-around with one of the all-time hockey greats, Bobby Orr! I threw a few of those pictures in there as well for the Bruins fans out there.
Photos: Red Sox Prepare Flag For 9/11 Memorial.
I decided to head out this morning and shoot some photos as members of the Boston Red Sox front office helped roll up the American flag at Fenway Park in preparation for a 9/11 memorial flag drop before tonight’s game.
This is a follow up to the Flag Roll video I made in the wake of the attacks on the Boston Marathon earlier this year, in which I spoke with some first responders who were out at the scene on Marathon Monday. You can watch that video by clicking here.
I’ve covered this process twice now, and both times have been enjoyable to shoot. It’s really a nice coming together of people, and it’s a story that looks good both in video and photos.
The Sox are back in town today to begin their quest to clinch a playoff spot. First up is a three game series against the Yankees. I’m excited to shoot meaningful September baseball. The Sox’ magic number stands at 8!

A return to normalcy after a crazy game on Sunday. Here are a few Memorial Day features from Fenway Park.
Photos: Red Sox Baseball Resumes After Marathon Attacks.
Sports have a way of bringing people together. In the wake of the tragedies of the Boston Marathon, I think the city has been itching to get back to normalcy.
What better way to do that than with a Red Sox game at Fenway Park? After a city-wide lockdown during the tail end of an intense manhunt extended into Friday evening, Friday’s originally scheduled game was postponed. Today, we’ve got a double-header to make up for that game, but yesterday’s game, the first home game since the attacks, was one to remember.
The pre-game ceremony was both solemn and comforting, and the game finished with a storybook ending – a late inning come from behind win off of Daniel Nava’s three run home run.
Here are my images from throughout the day.
Boston Red Sox Photos: Opening Day 2013.
It’s hard to believe time has passed so quickly, but yesterday marked the start of my fourth season working as a photographer in Major League Baseball.
I always love Opening Day, and yesterday at Fenway Park was no exception. We caught a break from the freezing cold that we’ve had up here in Boston, and had a beautiful, sunny, warm afternoon to work in. That, along with all the other familiar sights and sounds that make baseball so perfect, was rejuvenating to say the least.
It made for a long day, beginning with a 5:00 A.M. arrival at the ballpark and ending with night class and a few hours of editing in the lab at Boston University, but a great day nonetheless.
Here are some images I made from the pre-game ceremonies and the general scene around Fenway. I threw in a bit of orange and black as well.
It was fantastic to see all the Boston photographers back in the same place, and a pleasure to meet some new ones. Plus, the Red Sox took on my hometown heroes, the Baltimore Orioles.
My two favorite teams and a fresh start. A dream come true for this guy.
Here’s to another season!
