The Red Sox returned to Fenway Park down 0–2 in the American League Division Series, but stayed alive with a convincing 10–3 win over the Houston Astros. A go-ahead home run by Rafael Devers, clutch defense in right field by Mookie Betts, and a dominant relief pitching performance by David Price all contributed to the Red Sox the win. What a game yesterday! It’s Big Papi’s world and we’re just living in it.
In the ninth inning, the Red Sox found themselves trailing the Houston Astros 5-4 and down to their last out, when David Ortiz sent the game to extra innings with a game tying RBI triple.
Then, in the bottom of the eleventh inning, Ortiz came through in the clutch one more time, hitting an RBI double to score Xander Bogaerts and cap a 6-5 walk-off win. It was the 600th double of his career.
A fun one to shoot, and the Red Sox photography staff had the celebrations covered from all angles. Here was my take from the third base side.
