It’s nice to be back at it at Fenway Park after a few weeks of shooting out of the country, and it was even nicer to be welcomed back with an exciting walk-off win to shoot. After giving up a two run lead in the ninth inning, the Sox bounced right back and got it done in the tenth, giving them their second straight walk-off, third this home stand, and eighth this season.
Let’s hope we can keep it going!

After losing ten straight games, the Red Sox turned things around and got hot just at the right time, rattling off a seven game winning streak which included five wins at Fenway Park.

We had a good game yesterday at Fenway Park, as Jon Lester struck out fifteen batters and Jonny Gomes hit a grand slam to lead the Red Sox to a win over the Oakland Athletics.

I’m just returning from jetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida, where I was shooting and editing for several days at Boston Red Sox Spring Training camp. It’s hard to believe it’s already time for baseball. Where did the offseason go?
This year, we’re aiming to amp up our efforts to produce more great multimedia work within the Red Sox photo department, so we hit the ground running in Spring Training. This is one of a series of quick, fifteen second multimedia videos that are being posted to the Red Sox Instagram account. Each one is unique and highlights a different player on the team, be it a returning player from the 2013 World Champion roster or an exciting, young up-and-comer. We aimed to individualize each piece by playing to the personalities of each guy.
We have more players in the works, but I’m as Spring Training is still in its early stages, I’m posting pitchers and catchers here – Jon Lester, John Lackey, Clay Buchholz, Jake Peavy, Henry Owens, Brandon Workman, and A.J. Pierzynski.
Feedback online so far has been great, but as always, I’d love to hear your thoughts, comments, questions, and criticisms! Each of these is a combination shooting and editing effort between myself and Red Sox Manager of Photography, Mike Ivins.
On a more general note, as I enter into my fifth season shooting in Major league Baseball, I was really excited to work Spring Training for my first time. It was one aspect of the game I felt I hadn’t gotten to know yet, and this was a nice sampling of what the baseball scene is like down in Florida.
Photos: 2013 World Series – Game 5.
After a painful end to game three of the World Series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, the Red Sox responded in the best way possible, taking the next two games from the Cardinals. Last night’s game was tense, but it was a huge win, as the team now returns to Fenway Park just one win away from a World Series title.
These are the highlights from game five, which although a great game, wasn’t fantastic for pictures. We flew back to Boston right afterwards which made for a long night of travel, so I’m not going to post much more right now.
Tomorrow is a huge day, as the team has the chance to win a World Series at Fenway Park for the first time since 1918.

We’re underway at Fenway Park for the 2013 American League Championship Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers.
Everyone always talks about the capabilities of the Detroit pitching staff, and last night was proof of why they do so. This high powered Red Sox offense was held to just one hit through nine innings, as the Tigers were won 1-0 in game one. It’s hard to win a game on one hit, and from a photo standpoint, it’s hard to make really good pictures when not much is happening. In the way of action, things were very slow last night.
Still, we’re looking to tell the story of the game and to capture the atmosphere and feel inside the stadium, so that’s what I’ve tried to post here.
Here’s hoping things go better tonight for game two! And for less TV air time for this photographer than last night.

There’s nothing more exciting than playoff baseball, and I’m really pumped that we have it here in Boston this year.
Yesterday was Game One of the American League Division Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays, and from a Sox photographer’s point of view, things couldn’t have gone better. Although there wasn’t anything to out of the ordinary in the way of pictures, the team came out and dominated with a 10-2 win to begin the series.
I shot the game from one of two temporary, auxiliary photo pits built for the postseason on the inside ends of each dugout. It’s a nice luxury having those extra pits, which give us a different angle than we normally have during the regular season.

Boston Red Sox Photos: Wednesday, April 24, 2013 vs. Oakland Athletics.
Yesterday, we had a 4 PM start time for the final game of the Boston Red Sox series against the Oakland Athletics.
Beautiful light and shadows and an early end to the game – a win win situation for all the photographers in the house! Here are a few images from the day. I tried to take advantage of the golden light and dark shadows that were creeping across the field by shooting from up high for most of the game.

I’m a bit late on this post, but I didn’t shoot much game action from Wednesday night that was worth blogging about. Instead, I’ve posted a few miscellaneous frames I shot from the evening’s happenings around the park.
The ceremonial first pitch photo is just like every other ceremonial first pitch photo I shoot, except I thought it was pretty neat how broadcaster Joe Castiglione gave play by play commentary of his own pitch through his microphone while he was throwing it.
