Boston Red Sox Photos: 2018 Opening Day Vs. Tampa Bay Rays.

We’re underway again at Fenway Park! This week’s Opening Day was my seventh with the Red Sox, and ninth in Major League Baseball. I’m getting old.

As Opening Days go, this was a good one. The Red Sox came from behind to beat the Tampa Bay Rays on a walk-off hit by Hanley Ramirez in the twelfth inning.

Before the game, the team welcomed Winter Olympians and Paralympians from the New England region in a moving pre-game ceremony, which included a special appearance by David Ortiz.

Here are the photos from the game.

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, the Boston Red Sox, and Boston Public School student athletes honored former Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz today with the unveiling of David Ortiz Drive, currently known as Yawkey Way Extension.

Here is a gallery of photos from the event.

Boston Mayor Walsh and the Boston Red Sox Foundation formally unveiled the first of four indoor batting cages that will be installed in 2017 at Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) community centers throughout the City of Boston. The batting cage installation is made possible by a grant from Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Players Association’s (MLBPA) Youth Development Foundation.

This event was exactly what you would expect from a ribbon cutting photo wise, but it’s a great initiative that the Red Sox have partnered with. I grew up playing baseball, and was always lucky enough to have indoor batting cages to hit in year-round. This project begins giving that same access to kids in the city of Boston, even in the cold winter months. Any young baseball player deserves that!

The Red Sox hosted hundreds of Little Leaguers at Fenway Park over the weekend for an Opening Day event that celebrate the start of Little League’s baseball and softball season. Mayor Martin J. Walsh attended the event, which also included a special ceremony with opening remarks from Red Sox Chairman, Tom Werner, and former Red Sox players Steve Lyons and Sam Horn.

The Boston Red Sox welcomed Boston Mayor Marty Walsh to Fenway Park for the annual Mayor’s Walk Through this morning. Alongside Linda Pizzuti Henry, Red Sox President Sam Kennedy, and Chairman Tom Werner, Mayor Walsh checked out the off-season additions and improvements to the Park, including a Virtual Reality dugout station, new attractions for young fans in the Kids Concourse, and safety netting along the infield.

Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox announced that Fenway Park will play host to the sport of Hurling this fall as part of the AIG Fenway Hurling Classic & Irish Festival. The Irish sport is returning to Fenway Park for the first time since 1954.

I know nothing about this game, but it seems like it will be something interesting and different to photograph! Here are a few quick snaps from yesterday’s press conference announcement.

Today is Opening Day for the 2015 Major League Baseball season! It’s hard to believe the winter is over and the season is back upon us.

As has been tradition in recent years, Boston’s Mayor, Marty Walsh, came to Fenway Park this morning to recognize the start of the season and to view recent improvements and additions to the ballpark.

The walk through also coincided with the opening of ‘Gate K,’ a concourse in the ballpark designated for kids, as well as the announcement of a Historically Black Colleges and Universities game to be played here later this month.

Here are a few moments from the morning!

This morning, the Red Sox Foundation hosted the fifth annual Run to Home Base presented by New Balance 10k race, which brought over 2,600 runners and walkers to Fenway Park to support Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families as they heal from post traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury.

This was an early morning for me, but I always enjoy shooting this event. These are a few features from the day.

It’s great to be back in baseball season, and we had a memorable Opening Day to begin the 2014 baseball season here at Fenway Park. In following our tradition, we were here early to shoot the sunrise over the park. This year, we shot video as well, and produced the quick video piece posted above for the Red Sox Instagram account.

Minutes after the sun came up, an armored truck carrying a special delivery showed up to the ballpark.

The truck was, of course, hauling the hardware. The 2013 World Series rings had arrived for a special pre-game ring ceremony honoring the 2013 world champion Boston Red Sox. These are some of the highlights from a fantastic ceremony.

Happy baseball season!
