Another long one. Here are some selects from the day, and here is a gallery with some others.

I’m here in New Haven, Connecticut for the next ten days working as the tournament photographer and video producer at the 2013 New Haven Open tennis tournament. Today marked the first day of the tournament, so I was busy shooting tons of tennis and opening events. By now, I’ve learned that on these early days of the tournament, it’s less about being too creative with photo and video and more about making sure that everything gets covered, as there’s so much going on.
Above is a quick hit video piece I shot and edited from the tournament draw ceremony featuring 2013 Wimbledon finalist, Sabine Lisicki. As the tournament goes on, I’ll have more time to polish these video spots. For now, it was a good way to get back into the swing of things after shooting lots of baseball over the past several weeks.
There’s also a few selects from the stills I shot today.
As I often make my practice, I’m hoping to publish a post every day of the tournament, so be sure to check back if you’d like!
It was another busy one out at the Championships Wimbledon today, but an exciting one to say the least.
I was able to get out early in the morning and roam the grounds while they were still empty. It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress and hustle and bustle of the media workroom and forget what a beautiful place the All England Club really is. Walking around and shooting by myself before the crowds got in was therapeutic, and definitely put me in the right mindset for the rest of the day.
The photos above are a mix of what I shot throughout the day, including a visit by the Golden Bear himself, Jack Nicklaus.
Tomorrow I’ll be shooting video, which I’ve done periodically throughout this tournament. I plan to post all my video work from this year’s Wimbledon to the blog when I have a better internet connection and some more time. Until tomorrow!
Rain held up lots of play late this afternoon, so we had a relatively slow fourth day of the tournament. There wasn’t much tennis shooting to be done, so here’s an assortment of photos I snapped.
