PHOTOS: 2016 BNP PARIBAS OPEN – DAY 13.
Here are my photos from the men’s and women’s singles finals matches on Sunday in Indian Wells. On the women’s side, Victoria Azarenka pulled out an upset over World No. 1 Serena Williams, while Novak Djokovic cruised easily to beat Canadian, Milos Raonic.
And with that, the 2016 BNP Paribas Open is over. It’s hard to believe this is the fourth straight year that I’ve shot this amazing tournament. Each year, the event gets bigger, more innovative, and more progressive. And lucky for me, the team that I get to be a part of does to. When I started in 2013, there were just five of us on our media team. It has now grown to over 20, and is poised to get bigger in years to come. What we have now is an elite team of writers, photographers, videographers, social media experts, and public relations specialists, all bringing expertise from different professions and different places. It’s pretty special, and it makes the long hours, endless flights of stairs, and countless hours in the 90 plus degree sun with heavy photo equipment all worth it. I’m lucky and thankful to be a part of something like that.
I also believe that in this business, it’s good practice to be as diverse as possible. It’s refreshing to shoot special events like this. For me, it gives me a breather from shooting baseball, but also always leaving me feeling re-energized creatively, and ready to bring that energy back to my work here at the Boston Red Sox. I think events like these balance themselves out well with my career in baseball, and I’m lucky to be able to experience both.
A big congratulations and thank you to everyone I got to work with in Indian Wells. By this point, there are too many people to thank individually. That’s a good problem to have. You all know who you are.
After three weeks at Red Sox Spring Training followed immediately by ten hard days shooting tennis in the desert, I am physically exhausted. I need to relax and regroup over the next few days. Then I’ll get fired up for the start of another season at Fenway Park. It’s good to be busy!
Thanks for following!

Lots of activity on the grounds yesterday at the BNP Paribas Open. The day began with an exciting doubles match on the brand new stadium 2 featuring fellow countrymen Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka.
Not much more time to post, but these are the highlights!

A bit of a slower day yesterday, as Samantha Stosur and Victoria Azarenka, two of the hot tickets in the women’s draw, pulled out of the tournament due to injuries. Those developments left us with a bit of downtime, which was a nice change of pace from the constant grind this tournament has been so far.
It also gave me a chance to recuperate before the much anticipated match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Although the match didn’t turn out to be one of the classics like they’ve had so many times before, the energy in the stadium was still high and it was a lot of fun to shoot. More to come soon from that match.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy the photos!
