Here are some selects from a Red Sox loss to the Blue Jays on a beautiful afternoon at Fenway Park. It’s hard to believe the season is winding down. Time flies!
Photos: Castiglione, Clemens, Nomar, Pedro Inducted Into Red Sox Hall Of Fame.

Red Sox Hall of Fame day is always a special one around Fenway Park, and this year’s induction was particularly memorable. Yesterday, broadcaster Joe Castiglione, former shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, and former pitchers Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez were inducted as the newest members of the team’s Hall of Fame.
This was a busy day of shooting, but it was a pleasure to be on hand for this event and hear so many stories from those guys’ careers.
Here are the highlights from the Hall of Fame luncheon, pre-game ceremony, and game. I also threw in some photos of former Boston College baseball player and ALS fundraiser, Pete Frates, accepting the recently trending Ice Bucket Challenge in front of the Green Monster and of the “Rocket” Roger Clemens throwing batting practice to his kids before the game.
Enjoy!

A close but tough loss for the Red Sox in the third and final game of a weekend series against the Oakland Athletics. Here are a few select action shots from the day.

Here are the photo highlights from what proved to be a very long double header for the Boston Red Sox yesterday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Although both games one and two were close, in the end neither of them went the Red Sox way.
Onto the Oakland Athletics this weekend!
Photos: Boston Red Sox World Series Ring Ceremony.

It’s great to be back in baseball season, and we had a memorable Opening Day to begin the 2014 baseball season here at Fenway Park. In following our tradition, we were here early to shoot the sunrise over the park. This year, we shot video as well, and produced the quick video piece posted above for the Red Sox Instagram account.
Minutes after the sun came up, an armored truck carrying a special delivery showed up to the ballpark.
The truck was, of course, hauling the hardware. The 2013 World Series rings had arrived for a special pre-game ring ceremony honoring the 2013 world champion Boston Red Sox. These are some of the highlights from a fantastic ceremony.
Happy baseball season!
Photos: ALCS Game Two – Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers.
I feel like a broken record writing that this was the most amazing game I’ve ever been on hand to shoot. I know I’ve said that at least several times this season. The Red Sox have had so many incredible games in 2013, but somehow they seem to outdo themselves with every one of these improbable wins.
This one was more special, more dramatic, and more meaningful than any of the other eleven Red Sox walk-off wins this season. After being held to just one hit by Detroit Tigers pitching in game one of the ALCS, the Red Sox frustrations continued, as 22-game winner Max Scherzer was absolutely dominant. Yet after managing to put up a run in the sixth inning and ensuring Scherzer’s eventual exit in the eighth, the boys pulled off one of the most incredible wins in playoff history.
After a double by Will Middlebrooks, a walk by Jacoby Ellsbury, a base hit by Dustin Pedroia, and a series of bullpen pitching changes by Detroit, David Ortiz stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded. In classic Big Papi fashion, Ortiz knocked the first pitch he saw just out of the reach of Torii Hunter in right field for a grand slam to tie the game.
The Fenway crowd went nuts, and after Ortiz crossed home plate and made it back into the dugout, I found myself turned around giving high fives to the fans sitting behind me in the first row. I’m usually able to separate my emotions while shooting, but in this case, it was impossible.
Even though the game was still tied at that point, I knew that we would win it. Sure enough, in the bottom of the ninth inning, Jarrod Saltalamacchia knocked a single into left field to score Jonny Gomes and even the series at 1-1.
These photos above are the highlights of my take from beginning to end. What a night. It still feels like a dream.
Boston Red Sox Photos: Wednesday, September 4, 2013 vs. Detroit Tigers.
Last night turned out to be a historic, action-packed, and downright fun game to shoot. Seemingly out of nowhere, the Red Sox offense exploded, putting up 20 runs on 19 hits, including a franchise record-tying eight home runs.
David Ortiz put up a huge performance of his own, hitting two home runs as well as a double in the sixth inning, which marked the 2,000th hit of his Major League Career.
I’ve shot lots of crazy games in the past, but I can’t remember one where home runs, plays in the field, and player reactions were happening so quickly and consistently. It’s a good exercise in keeping your focus while shooting as several story lines are happening at once.
What a great way to end this home stand. We’ve got one more home stand to go, but hopefully more baseball to come here in Boston as October rolls around!

Yesterday, we had a 4 PM start time for the final game of the Boston Red Sox series against the Oakland Athletics.
Beautiful light and shadows and an early end to the game – a win win situation for all the photographers in the house! Here are a few images from the day. I tried to take advantage of the golden light and dark shadows that were creeping across the field by shooting from up high for most of the game.
Boston Red Sox Photos: Thursday, April 11, 2013 vs. Baltimore Orioles.
I shot the rubber match of the first season series between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles last night. It turned out to be a good one, particularly throughout the first half of the game.
I’ve shot tons of games, but it was good to use last night to get back into the rhythm of shooting baseball again. When it comes to action photos, I think I’m still in tennis mode.
Someone who’s not having an issue with timing, however, is Chris Davis, the O’s first baseman who already has six home runs on the season. The photo up above is of the one he hit last night, which I knew was gone as soon as it left the bat.
